Hey Jason, great song! You've got a great singing voice. I hope you and the missus enjoy your holiday in Tuscany, and I'm looking forward to more aviation speeches when you return!

Hi Jason!
Great song!! I like it!

BUT:
In the com recording in the beginning of this podcast you said something like: "9MA ready for takeoff"
It should always be: "...ready for departure"

We should remember the Tenerife disaster.

cheers
coffee

Tuscany was amazing 8)

wow. the italians can really eat.

I'm glad y'all like the song ... I really love that one too.

Thanks!

Thanks, too, for the reminder coffee. I will make sure to use Departure ... how did that play into the Tenerife disaster?

Hey Jason,

Great rendition of Lincoln Duncan. It's actually the first time I could really understand all the words. Leave it to a pilot to have better enunciation than a rock star.

BTW, were you performing all by your lonesome in that recording? I'm always amazed when I see somebody playing guitar and working a harmonica at the same time. That's almost as much multi-tasking as single-pilot IFR!

<grin>

Moski,

That was recorded live! I was playing a Gibson J-45 guitar and a harmonica on a neckbrace and my friend Michael Bizar was playing a Martin Mandolin.

It's like flying ... get it right the first time ... rehearse rehearse rehearse and record live ... NO fixing in the mix!

Wow! Recorded live - you are a talented musician! It sounded really good!

So....when do we get the Jason Miller/TFP "Unplugged" album?

Hi Jason,

a little bit late...but better than never :D

Tenerife airport disaster:

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenerife_disaster

and also read the Safety response of this wiki article:
Quote:
As a consequence of the accident, there were sweeping changes made to international airline regulations and to aircraft. Aviation authorities around the world introduced requirements for standard phrases and a greater emphasis on English as a common working language. For example, ICAO calls for the phrase "line up and wait" as an instruction to an aircraft moving into position but not cleared for take-off. The FAA equivalent is "taxi into position and hold". Air traffic instruction should not be acknowledged solely with a colloquial phrase such as "OK" or even "Roger", but with a read back of the key parts of the instruction, to show mutual understanding. Additionally the phrase "take-off" is only spoken when the actual take-off clearance is given. Up until that point both aircrew and controllers should use the phrase "departure" in its place (e.g. "ready for departure").

That's why we here in europe take it very seriously to use the phrase "take-off" only in case of a take off clearance given and this is always used by ATC first.

cheers
Coffee
