check this out...

although only a proto-type, a French company successfully test flew their "Akoya"...skis, hydrofoils, flexible flaps, a swiveling wing for storage, a parachute. I would love to see them get this on the market. They also have design plans for a "Hi-Bird", with solar panels. I don't know realistically how long it will be...but the sketches are gorgeous.
