I joined CAP a year ago and have been flying my local squadron's C172 quite often for proficiency and flight time. My squadron has CFI's, former Air Force pilots, and many other interesting people to interact with on a regular basis. I have found that being in CAP gives a purpose to my flying that taking up friends and family for joyrides once a month didn't bring. It's not for everyone and does require a modest commitment.
