I'm resuming my private pilot training after a long hiatus (and two instructors who left for airline jobs). At this new school, I'm flying an older Cherokee that has an airspeed indicator with both MPH and knots printed on it. My instructor doesn't care which scale I use. My instinct is to use knots because that's what I'm used to, and that's what I'll be using after getting my certificate. On the other hand, the outer MPH ring on the instrument is easier to read, and the POH lists all the V speeds in MPH (easily converted, of course). Is there an expectation during the practical exam that I know all my speeds in knots, or would MPH be acceptable to an examiner?
