I thought I would ask a question. What have other CFI's/students experienced with TSA registration? How long did it take to get started with training?

TSA Registration? I don't think I registered with them. If I did then my CFI did it for me. Do I have to register now? Do I have to take my shoes off to do so?

im not set up to teach foreign nationals so i havent had the joy of doing the rigamarole of the more stringent TSA stuff. of course i do the annual or whatever recurrency security training. what a joke. the other instructor at our club is set up for the foreign national thing and has had a lot of students through that lately. from what ive heard it isnt that bad, just a necessary evil i guess.

TSA registration is for foreign students Will, but somewhere in your logbook you should have an endoresement verifying your citizenship. If you started before 2004, I think, then that's not required.

I haven't had too much trouble. It depends if you register as an independent CFI or through a school. The biggest hassle for my student was fingerprinting, expensive too. They couldn't just go anywhere, had to be FAA approved.
