Incredible how a simple 5 or 6 step checklist used on what is considered a simple task can have such a dramatic impact on safety. Its long, but a must read.

I'm glad you found that. This was a story that I heard second hand. I was amazed that a "checklist" system did not exist in the medical world - this indicating that obviously all would benefit.

After reading this article I immediately sent it to my friend who's in his 2nd year of med school. I was a bit sad to read that only a few million dollars could be spent to save so many lives and so much money - it's stuff like this that helps you realize why it costs so much for healthcare, its very complicated stuff, and it costs a lot of money, but it isn't being managed properly to give the hospital and its patients the maximum benefits.
