Jason had someone ask when can a go around be done? Anytime that a safe landing or even touchdown can't be safely done I say. I had one landing where in the flare and briefly touchdown, or I bounced it some, that I started getting blown off to the side and I had a problem keeping it straight. Added power and aborted, came back around and all was good. I've never felt ashamed for having to abort, in fact I feel more like a real pilot as I am exercising my PIC duties to be safe.

I liked the discussion of how to practice control in the roundout, flare and touchdown.

In fact, before hearing this podcast, I asked my instructor if we could do exactly what Jason recommends -- fly down the runway and practice controlling the airplane at slow speed and low elevation with rudder and airleons -- just to get a better feel for what it takes to keep the plane where I want her in those conditions.
