Can someone help me with a definition?

When looking at planes, what does NAV II imply? is this a way of saying the plane is equipped for IFR flight?

And, does NAV II offer big advantages over NAV I -- which I also see mentioned, but less frequently?

in the cessnas, it has somethign to do with the level of avionics. I *think* the NAV II setup was the full King nav/comm and gps stack with MFD. NAVIII is the G1000. I think.
