Dear TFP forum, I am a student pilot with still a single digit flying hours behind me. I love the experience of flying and it is definitely something for me long-term.
Therefore, what should you buy, and any suggestions to brands or models for headsets etc? I do NOT want to buy something cheap for later spending more money to get something better.
I fly a Rallye 880, which is a single engine 4 seater (but really only room for 2 plus 2 small kids), which is about 40 years old. I bit on the noisy side. Also, all steam gauges inside, no electronics.
Top on my list is:
1. A good headset
2. A portable GPS
So far have only bought the theory books, so ready and excited about to starting kitting meself out.
Kenneth
PS. I live in Toulouse, France, where supply a bit limited, but I guess that is what internet shopping and shipping is for...

I think to get yourself started, you need a headset and a kneeboard. The GPS is nice but not mandatory depending on what type of radio navigation is available. Your instructor can direct you to books that you will need as well as others such as a logbook, charts and all of the applicable publications.

How is the training going?
a :D
