Hello,
I'd like to ask several questions concerning circuits...
How tight circuits do you normally fly?
My point is - do you fly in such a way, that if at any point of the circuit you experience an catastrophic engine failure, you'd make it to the runway? Or do you count on small probability of such thing?
How steep approaches you fly? Again - my point is engine failure... If you fly cessna 150, and your engine quits, it has best glide ratio 8:1 or so...
If I calculated the thing correctly, it is about 7 degrees, while normal approaches are 3-4 degrees - which means that if your engine quits, you end up short and there is nothing you can do about it.
And last but not least - imagine you are well above circuit height over some airport and again - your engine quits (just quits - no fire)...
What do you do? Do you circle to land, just fly "glider" circuit or do something else?
Thank you for your opinions,
Michal
