Now that we can complete the 87-10 online and submit to the FAA, I was curious how many flight instructors/students around the country are using this and how many use paper? Incidentally, I heard from a DE that although the FAA is making it mandatory to use IACRA, they don't use it themselves?

i like the paper copies. ive used the IACRA when the student went to an examiner who has converted. it was sort of a pain but not too bad. most of the area examiners are old curmudgeons who will keep paper as long as they can so i will too.

Oakland FSDO doesn't use IACRA -- when I showed up to get IGI certificate couple months ago I mentioned I'd filled out the form on line. They said that doesn't work for them, so I filed out 8710 in person.

If you do fill out an IACRA, you might print a copy to bring with you as it will save time in case you need to do it manually.
