I recognized Jason wearing the Clarity Aloft headset on his videos. So I went out and bought me one, too. And I have to say I am excited. Best headset I can imagine. Totally does the job (with passive noise-cancelling).

I'll join you in this. I was desperately considering an ANR headset (drooling over the LightSpeed Zulu), but with the amount of time I've been spending in an airplane in warm temperatures, the Clarity Aloft won out. That and the savings of about $350 or more. So far (two months) I have no complaints.

I'm seriously considering going to an audiologist and getting some ear molds made. These are the same things that police officers and secret service use (as well as hearing aids). I'm told that they will block even more noise than the Comply canal tips and won't need to be replaced. If I do this I'll try to report back.

I have a pair and like the feel and comfort of the Clarity but they are assuredly not as quiet as my Zulu headset. So why don't I wear the Zulu? I often ask myself the same thing while putting in my Clarity Aloft foam plugs. I guess I prefer not to have those ear cups pressing on my ears.

The Zulu is a remarkable headset, great engineering, well made, quiet, comfortable, and has all the bells and whistles you could ask for (bluetooth rocks). It is hands-down a better headset than the Clarity. Their only shortcoming...ear cups. As ear cups go they aren't really bad (better than my Bose) in fact they are pretty good for ear cups. Yet I find myself reaching for the Clarity headset.

I was contemplating getting the Clarity Aloft because I thought they might be quieter than my Bose. I guess they wont be. How do you find the Zulu compared to Bose for sound reduction?

I have been also been considering the CA headset. What does the TSO version do and why would one consider it. Also how easy is it to use aviation headsets like this in other environments such as for ham radio communications on a motorcycle or bike? Or is that a bad (tm) idea and it should not leave the flight bag except while flying?
